Above all, I believe vocal education should be fun, while also challenging the student to explore and navigate their own unique instrument. My desire is to help my students grow in their love for music, as well as build confidence that will hopefully translate into their everyday lives.
Because singing is such a personal endeavour, I tailor each lesson to the individual student’s goals and interests. We can work together to find repertoire that you love to sing, whether that is country, pop, musical theatre, or classical. However, I may suggest some songs that will be outside of your comfort zone in order to grow your voice and musical understanding.
In terms of technique, I want to give my students a good understanding of how their breath works, the different parts of their voice (head, chest, mix), how the entire body (not just the larynx) is their instrument, what vocal health is and why that is important for their technique no matter what style they are singing in.

FAQ
What style of music do you teach? Do I have to sing classical music? I teach all styles of music including classical, however, my background and specialty is in musical theatre and contemporary commercial music. I want students to sing material that they love and enjoy, but that will still help their voices grow.
I would love to learn to sing, but I am embarrassed of my voice, can you still teach me? Absolutely! No matter where you are starting from, I would love to work with you. I do my best to provide an encouraging and supportive atmosphere.
What does a normal lesson look like? Lessons always begin with a warm-up. We start with stretches and exercises to get the breath moving and then we will move into vocalizing and technique exercises. The rest of the lesson will be spent learning and working on repertoire.
